Versatile weapon appearing in the 12th century. Initially used as a side arm or backup weapon for
close combat. Great development recorded from the mid-15th century. When Knights were already
fully dressed in plate armor and shield was replaced with a dagger, which can be used for parrying an
attack. Sword dagger is double-edged and used mainly for stab attack.
